John Travolta
's gaffe while introducing singer
Idina Menzel
at the Oscars last Sunday night has come full circle.
Travolta referred to Menzel as "Adele Dazeem," and the mistake didn't go unnoticed, instantly becoming numerous memes after spreading across the internet like wildfire.
Producers of new Broadway musical "If/Then" had a little fun with the Playbill for the show, coming up with an insert that features a photo of Menzel taken during her performance of hit single "Let It Go" from the Disney film "Frozen" at the Oscars with a notice that "At this performance the role of Elizabeth will be played by Adele Dazeem."
Actress Janet Krupin, who is starring alongside Menzel in the show, uploaded a photo of the insert to her Twitter and Instagram pages during Tuesday's dress rehearsal.
The mock insert features Menzel's resume with every proper name "Travoltified."
"Adele made her Broadway debut as Moritz in the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winner,
Nert
," it reads, referring to hit musical "Rent."
"She followed that with her Tony Award-winning performance as Ephraima in
Wicked-ly
," the Playbill adds, taking a jab at Travolta's introduction, in which he referred to her as "wicked-ly talented."
Dazeem, er, Menzel actually played the role of Elphaba in "Wicked."
Producers of "If/Then" also posted an image of Menzel from the Oscars on Monday with the caption, "You Know Her Name. Idina Menzel Stars In 'If/Then' On Broadway March 5."
Travolta has since apologized for his error, saying in a statement, "I've been beating myself up all day. Then I thought ... what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, 'Let it go, let it go!'"
Menzel reportedly gave the actor a hug backstage, but she herself has yet to comment.
