Shoes That People Obsessed Over During The 90s

The 1990's was truly the era of weird and wonderful fashion. A wonderful time with an abundance of boy bands, pop princesses, the iconic fashion and the excitement of the early days of the internet. Out of all the crazy, offbeat fashion trends during the 90's, some of the most popular were crop tops, bandana tops, low-rise jeans and many more.

Then there were shoes, trendy styles, colorful and must-have shoes. There were certain different styles of footwear that were a must if you wanted to be "cool" back in the 90's. These specific shoes became everybody's obsession and even if one didn't own them then at least they dreamed about them.

Since all ideas have run out, many of these trends are back in fashion. Check out the footwear that created a frenzy back in the 90s...


Platforms

Platforms became a famous style statement in the 90s and were wanted by every girl. They represented girl power thanks to the Spice Girls. And they are coming back to fashion and is often spotted on fashion runways.


Doc Martens

Originally, Docs were invented for use in the Second World War by a German Doctor, Klaus Martens. However, they became all the rage in 90s fashion. Owning at least one pair was the goal of every teenage girl. They came in different colors and people were rarely seen without them.


Skechers

Back in the 90, Skechers were mostly worn by celebrities like Britney Spears. They were one of the most comfortable footwear trends going and have since grown into one of the top shoe companies around. While not as popular as Nike and Reebok, Skechers are no longer the biggest trend in footwear, but still hold their own on the market. Not to mention, they've always been one of the most comfortable shoes around.


Birkenstocks

During the 90s, Birkenstocks were the standard go-to double-strap sandals of lesbians everywhere. Super comfortable and easy to wear, Birks went with just about anything.


Jelly Shoes

Jelly shoes are one of the most popular footwear trends from the 1990s. The simple shoe style was equally trendy with kids and adults.


Steve Madden Sandals

If you don't know a woman who had a pair of these in the 90s then you don't know any women. Oft paired with the perfect pedicure, nobody who was anybody didn't have a pair of these.


Clogs

Okay, so clogs were huge in the 80s, but they carried over into the following decade and saw not only women wearing them, but more men latching onto the trend as well when mens styles were introduced by the likes of Timberland. the wooden sole, leather upper clogs of the 80s were seriously uncomfortable and not so good for the feet, but in the 90s they evolved to include much more comfortable options. Fast forward 15-20 years and the shoe that originated in Holland as a wooden gardening shoe has evolved back into a gardening shoe in the form of Crocs.


Platform Sneakers

Platform sneakers were hot sellers in 1990s. These provided great comfort with soft cushioning and so they were desired by everybody, be it the adults or teenagers. Also, it made the person look taller which added to its popularity.


Moon Boots

Okay, Moon Boots are a stretch here, as they debuted way back in 1969 and then peaked during the 1980s, but back in the early part of the 90 they were still very much in trend. They got you the attention of people around you; but, more importantly, they felt just as cozy and fabulous as they looked.


Fluevog

The art deco style of these sandals by John Fluevog rocketed to the top of the 90s fashion trend thanks to celebrities like Madonna. The presence of these sandals in your wardrobe meant you were cool.
