Selfies are a trend that have reached all the corners of the world in a very short time. The idea of taking self-portraits everywhere one goes has affected a large portion of the population. Whether it's while at a party or on a vacation, you always see people taking selfies.

Brunel University London focused on a particular type of selfie and the people who post them. They did a study to determine the effects of posting selfies taken at the gym and the state of mind of the people who post them on social media.

The results?

The results were somewhat astonishing. The study revealed that these people actually have a psychological form of self-admiration and in many cases many of these people showed narcissistic traits.

They constantly brag on various social media platforms about their fitness. It begins by posting some random gym selfie which is well received by their family and attracts strangers.

Everyone loves it when they receive attention from others, so it leads to them posting at least one selfie per gym visit. Soon they develop narcissism and even start criticizing others who are not so keen in physical fitness like them. They are often seen arguing fervently with people who ask them not to flaunt their fitness on social media. It's kinda like all the people who constantly complain about stuff on Facebook.

The narcissism doesn't end there though. Gym rats then start posting about their diets and their routine. Activity then goes up on their social media pages again, satisfying their need for attention.

The study showed that their narcissism is not only seen in gym selfies and other health related posts, but also on other posts too. While this boosts their ego, the study suggested that their friends are just merely being polite on their faces but actually have started disliking their egotistical displays.

The main question that is left unanswered is that if these people use social media as a means to satisfy their narcissistic traits or social media is responsible for generating narcissism in them.

It will be interesting to see whether this psychological condition of people posting gym selfies will somewhat decline or continue to increase in future. Our money is on increase.

It has a radio station, restaurants, shops etc.

They filmed and photographed their nail-biting climb which is enough to run shivers through your body.

Russky Island Bridge, 1,050 ft. high, was apparently climbed by three Russian daredevils, Vitaliy Raskalov and his two friends. They climbed the bridge in 2012 without any permission. So they were fined for this illegal act later when they posted the videos of their stunt online and was found by the authorities.

The two Russian photographers, Vitaliy and Vadim, who climbed the Shanghai tower, also climbed the Ping, a finance center. The building is a skyscraper and was still under construction when climbed in 2015. They found a crane to climb to the top and the whole video of their stunts looks extremely breath-taking.

They say if there were no showers everyone would be used to the smell of b.o., but that can't be true since we all love garlic -- we'd be used to the smell by now!

Once again it's October, and that means that soon all the leaves will be turning colors, and when that happens there's no other place in the U.S. to view the fall foliage than in New England.

Something magical begins to happen once the air cools down in New England that you just don't see anywhere else in the country. The leaves begin to change colors -- from green to soft yellow, brown, orange, and a vibrant red -- and that's all just a part of the beautiful landscape views New England delivers during the fall.

What makes New England so special during this time is the background it provides with its big red barns, traditional buildings, and historic charm. These views are all something that needs to be experienced in person, that's why we've compiled a list of the best places to view the seasons change...

Maine

Starting at the very top of the region, New England's northernmost state, Maine, typically is less frequented by tourists, but those who go there know it's one of the greatest states to visit, especially in the summer and fall. Route 26 offers miles and miles of gorgeous fall scenery with quaint little towns to stop in along the way. Hike through Acadia National Park to get the best fall foliage views along the seashore, or tour the coast in Rockland to see the colors change. While you're there, don't forget the lobstah 's always in season!

Mohawk Trail is known as America's fist scenic drive is still one of the best places to experience Autumn. The Mohawk Trail runs through the Berkshires, home to the Fall Foliage Festival.

One of the best gems in Connecticut is Philip Johnson's Glass House in New Canan where you can see big beautiful maple trees through floor to ceiling windows. During the months of October and November watch cider making demonstrations at the oldest steam powered cider mill, B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill. If wine is more your style go wine tasting at any of the 24 different wineries along the Connecticut Wine trail.

Must see in Connecticut: The Last Green Valley is the 35 town National Heritage Corridor that boasts 130 miles of trails with 5 states parks and 80 ponds and lakes to choose from all featuring the fall hues.

If you're reading this article right now, chances are you're a cat lover. After all, if you're on the internet there are really only three reasons to be online: information, shopping or to look at cat pictures.

Most of us have or have had a cat (or three) at some point in our lives, and we know that when they're not eating, sleeping or eating they love to jump up on top of furniture, hone their claws on the carpets, climb things, sleep and eat.

It seems like all the simple cat furniture and scratch toys that you can get at the local pet shop are ridiculously priced, especially when you consider what they're made of: wood, rope and carpet.

One German cat owner decided to take matters into his own hands and create the ultimate cat jungle gym for his furry felines, giving them places to climb, explore, scratch their claws and even nap...

German carpenters and furniture designers Stefan Hoffman and Achim Holwald began creating cat furniture like suspension bridges, scratch posts and nap baskets after noticing the behavior of one of their tenants' cats.

"As a skilled carpenter and object artist I had an uncommon idea: creating my own cat furniture," Hoffman told Mail Online .

The duo's cat-furniture company, Goldtatze (translated: "Gold Paw"), creates and sells the furniture, which they claim is virtually indestructable and can hold up to maximum use. Their products are also non-toxic and best for smaller living spaces such as apartments.

Alas, these too are pricey, ranging from $100 - $200 per piece, but those who are more adventurous and into DIYing should easily be able to replicate some or all of the designs.

For example, the tall climbing structure can be made in a square shape with a 4x4 piece of wood instead of finding a round column. Wrap it in 3/8" rope (glue it on as you go wrapping it around the pole). To get the round shape head to the local carpet shop or home center and see if they have any cardboard spindles that the carpeting comes on hanging around. They're usually much thicker than regular cardboard tubes and will hold up well.

The rest is simple: use nearly any type of wood you can get your hands on -- from the cheaper pines, which will hold up just fin indoors, to more expensive hardwoods. Old pieces of carpet are great for scratching and sleeping spots, baskets with old blankets in them will give kitty a great spot to catch some z's before that next trip to the food bowl.

Just don't forget to mount each piece into wall and ceiling studs or use screw anchors!

The sky -- er, ceiling's the limit with what you can create on your own.

When a police officer in Sumter, South Carolina, got a phone call from a 13-year-old boy who wanted to run away from home he went above and beyond the call of duty.

Officer Gaetano Acerra answered a distress call from local teen Cameron Simmons, and when he arrived at his home he found Simmons across the street at a convenience store, where he had made the call. He explained how he had wanted to run away from home because his mother yelled at him for playing his brother's video games.

Acerra walked him home and during their talk Cameron ended up showing him around inside his family's house, and that's when Acerra noticed something -- Cameron's bedroom had nothing in it. No bed, no dresser -- nothing.

"He took me to his room and it was four walls, two windows and hardwood floor," Acerra told ABC News . "It was just empty. He had his clothes on the ground in a black garbage bag. I asked him where he sleeps and he said, 'Sometime on the couch and sometimes on a blow-up mattress.'"

He learned from the boy's mother that they had recently moved to South Carolina from Texas in order to help a sick relative, but the family fell on hard times and struggled to make a living in their new home.

Acerra made a few phone calls and talked to a few people he knew and got cameron a queen size bed for his room so he would no longer have to sleep on the floor. But that wasn't all, others donated items like a new desk, a dresser and even a television so he could play his own video games -- because someone even gave Acerra a Nintendo Wii system to pass on to Cameron.

After weeks of gathering the items, which even included an air hockey table for Cameron to play together with his older brother, Acerra surprised the boy with the help of his brother, Ferdinando, who helped deliver the furnishings. Ferdinando siad he posted on Facebook about his brother's doing in order to "brag a little bit" and word soon spread. They were even able to furnish Cameron's brother's room as well.

"The kid was in tears," said Acerra. "He was just in shock, so happy. He still is."

Officer Acerra would often stop by and play the Wii with Cameron, but we've learned he relocated to San Francisco in 2016 via his Facebook page.

Usually we hear about people rescuing animals all the time, but it's not that often that we hear about animals rescuing people.

The relationship between a pet and its owner is one of a kind. Animals are capable of reciprocating the love and affection they receive from us.

We've heard numerous stories of animals being saved by compassionate human beings, but there are often instances when these animals return the favor by courageously saving humans in dire situations. Unfortunately for them they don't always get all the credit.

Here are some of those cases when animals actually saved the lives of their loved ones...

Khan The Doberman Pinscher

In 2007, a Doberman Pinscher named Khan had been a part of his new family for four days when he saved his owner's daughter. Charlotte Svillcic, a resident of Atherton, Australia, was seventeen months old when she was being eyed a King Brown snake. Not to be confused with the Eastern Brown (both native to Oz), the third most venomous snake on the planet, the King Brown Snake still packs a venomous punch.

Khan was acting weird around the girl and trying to force her away from where the snake was hidden from her parents' view. He kept trying to get between her and the snake but wasn't able to do so, so he grabbed Charlotte by the back of her clothing and flipped her over his shoulders, putting himself between her and the snake. Khan was bitten, but fortunately he was given antivenom by a veterinarian in time.

Winnie The Wonder Cat

Winnie, a gray colored American Shorthair, has been called the "Winnie The Wonder Cat" since March 2007, when she saved the lives of her owners and their family.

Cathy and Eric Keesling and their son Michael were asleep when Winnie started meowing loudly and scratching Cathy. When Cathy woke, she felt sick and barely managed to call 911 before passing out.

Later, it was found out that carbon monoxide leaked into their house through a faulty gas pump.

Dory The Rabbit

Simon Steggall, a diabetic patient, was living with his wife Victoria, an ambulance driver, and his pet rabbit Dory when this 21-pound rabbit saved his life.

Steggall had passed out in a chair and his wife thought he was sleeping until their house rabbit jumped on his chest and thumped furiously.

Victoria noticed the strange behavior of the three foot rabbit and called the emergency number for help. Paramedics arrived and were able to treat Steggall.

Mandy The Goat

In 2002, Noel Osborne, a 78 year old Australian farmer, slipped on manure while tending to his livestock. His fall left him with a broken hip and unable to move.

Osborne remained in that position for the next five days until someone found him.

Thanks to his goat, Mandy, he was able to survive those 120 hours as she let him to drink her milk and cuddled up to him him during the nights to protected him from the cold.

Toby The Golden Retriever

Debbie Parkhurst, a jewelry artist, was saved by her 2 year old golden retriever named Toby. One Friday evening, this resident of Calvert County, Maryland, was alone at home with her 2 dogs.

While eating fruit, a chunk got wedged in her windpipe and she began choking. She tried in vain to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on herself, when suddenly Toby jumped on her and started pounding her chest. After the food was free from her windpipe, he affectionately started licking her face!

LuLu The Potbellied Pig

Jo Ann and Jack Altsman, residents of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, had agreed to babysit their daughter's pot-bellied pig named, Lulu.

One day, while her husband was away on a fishing trip, Jo Ann had a heart attack. She tried calling for help but no one was nearby to answer her call. LuLu came to the rescue by squeezing herself through the house's dog door even though it left her with several cuts and lacerations.

Lulu played dead in the middle of a road, getting the attention of one man who she was able to coax her back to the house to help Jo Ann.

The thought rarely crosses our minds that we might be giving bacteria a good path to travel.

Sharing is caring, and it's a good thing, but here are a few exceptions to the rule...

Ear Buds

At some point or another, you wanted a friend or a sibling to hear that hot new song. As soon as it starts, you pop out one of your ear buds and hand it over to your friend.

At the time the thought probably never crossed your mind, but with that one action you didn't just share that new song, but you shared bacteria back and forth.

You might not think it's a big deal, but ask yourself that the next time you're down with the common cold. Also, the amount of bacteria transmitted is doubled when earbuds are worn for working out and shared during physical. Sweat and the warmth of the body aggravate the growth rate of germs.

Towels

At one point in time each one of us has shared our towel with somebody, be it a friend, girlfriend/boyfriend or a sibling. But as much as a person never minds sharing it, we should!

People assume that because we use towels after bathing and generally come in contact with things we use to keep ourselves clean and hygienic that it's okay to share them.

Unfortunately, it's not all that clean. Towels make us dry because of their absorbent properties, but they absorb some unwanted germs as well. Germs that can live on for days, weeks and months!

Deodorant

Deodorants and perfumes, in general, are that one product that nobody cares much about when it comes to sharing. They would use whatever comes in handy when it comes to these kind of products.

Scented roll-ons in particular are the main source of bacteria transportation among people. It is as gross as it sounds and unhygienic as well!

Toothbrushes

This is something everybody is aware of -- how harmful sharing a toothbrush can be (not to mention insanely gross!)

Even then some couples split a brush between themselves. Discussing kissing is a whole different story, a gesture of love it may be but surely bacteria loves this act of love as well.

On toothbrushes germs get an easy method of transportation that also causes lots of infections and diseases associated with poor dental hygiene, and in rare cases, blood borne diseases if the toothbrush causes bleeding gums.

When it comes to friends and family, rarely anyone objects to sharing drinks, but even one sip can almost ensure transfer of a trace amount of saliva. That small amount is almost enough to cause some serious infections and diseases like strep throat, the mumps, and the common cold -- and sometimes even meningitis.

Fortunately millions of people share drinks and take bites of each other's food without any serious consequences -- but then you never know when one sip might get you sick.

Hairbrushes

Sharing hairbrushes is quite common in every household, especially among girls.

There are some diseases, though, which can be transmitted via hairbrush, and we're not just talking about head lice. People have gotten scabies and even staph infections from sharing their hairbrush.

Canadian model Meagan Penman spotted an injured dog pulling its hind legs behind itself on a beach during a trip to Thailand. The dog was malnourished and covered in ticks, and it had been paralyzed after being hit by a motorcycle months earlier. His owner abandoned him and did nothing for him.

Meagan brought the pup to a local vet for treatment and searched for a rescue shelter to take him, but none wanted him. The vet took X-rays of the dog, confirming that his spine was broken. The dog was also treated for cuts and scrapes on his legs that were left "raw from the friction of the ground" from dragging himself around.

She named the pup, less than a year old at the time, Leo, and decided that she couldn't just leave him there to die, homeless and in such terrible condition. Meagan sought help on GoFundMe in order to fly him back home to Canada with her to get proper treatment and care.

Meagan needed to raise over $5,000 to get him back to the Great White North. She nursed him back to health with the help of a local vet, who got him in good enough shape to make the long journey home.

She knew she couldn't keep the dog, so she sought out a foster home for Leo, and just two months after arriving in Canada she found a woman to take him in after making the local news and setting up a Facebook page, Help Save Leo .

A woman named Jamie took him in, and more donations through GoFundMe and YouCaring helped pay the expenses involved with Leo's care, like physiotherapy and other medical costs.

K9 Carts in Freeland, Washington, a pet mobility rehabilitation center, helped him out with a dog wheelchair, but Leo has several other expenses because of his paralyzation. He has a special diet and needs special bands and pads that are basically like diapers for when he goes to the bathroom because he has undergone various operations on his urinary tract.

With only weeks, or even days, left to live, this special pup was given a second chance by a couple of great women!

Video games have always been a way to go explore all sorts of worlds that could only otherwise be imagined in our wildest dreams.

With the movies based on the videogame, Lara Croft has gained even more recognition. She was generally seen wearing a white camisole and shorts, which complimented her well toned, athletic frame.

When Samus Aran, the metal-bodied character from Nintendo's hit Metroid video game series turned out to be a woman, it was a complete shocker for video game fans.

She is seen as one of the hottest and sexiest female video game characters ever since her big reveal at the end of the original 8-bit game.

Soon she was featured in a blue form fitting zero suit and with her beautiful blue eyes, she looks gorgeous. It is still a debatable topic among gamer guys over whether or not she looks better with her helmet off or on. Many of us would surely prefer her helmet off -- after all who would want to hide such a beautiful face?

Australia. Oz. The Lucky Country. The Land Down Under. No matter what you call it, this nation that boasts its very own continent is home to things like Cricket, the Sydney Opera House, Vegemite, amazing beaches, surfing, the outback, the Great Barrier Reef and a myriad of wildlife.

Many of which can kill you.

From the waters of the Great Barrier Reef (where not only the animals are out to get you, but razor sharp coral is perilous), to the dusty deserts at the center of the country, Australia is home to dozens of the world's most poisonous animals.

From spiders that pack a serious bite to giant crabs, crocodiles, and Great White Sharks, it seems that most of the wildlife is out to get you.

Naturally, these animals haven't deterred humans from visiting or living in the region, but if you plan to go, consider watching your step...

Box Jellyfish

Box Jellyfish are common in and around the Great Barrier Reef and off the shores of many of Australia's beaches, and each one can have over a dozen tentacles on each of the four corners of its body. Each tentacle contains a half-million cnidocytes, which are cells that inject venom into a victim. The venom can cause extreme pain and sometimes even death. Special nets are put up to keep them out of swimming areas and special bottles of medicinal vinegar are on site at many beaches to treat stings while awaiting medical aid.

Crabs

Most Texans will tell you that everything's bigger in Texas, however they probably haven't been down under where coconut crabs grow to the size of dogs. These land crabs may appear to have a lot of meat on them, but if they were good eats we'd have heard about it long ago. Don't get pinched by one, either. They keep their grip for a long time and cause excruciating pain.

Pythons

Pythons are common in Australia and they're also said to be scary looking and relatively harmless to man. We'll still keep our distance considering that the one above is making a meal out of a Flying Fox, the world's largest fruit bat. Their wingspan can near five feet, making them equally as scary.

Blue Ring Octopus

The tiny Blue Ring Octopus, which matures at five to eight inches, is one of the most venomous creatures in the sea. There isn't an antivenom and it can kill humans. These creatures are found in coral reefs along the entire eastern Pacific rim.

Of course, any octopus can be a pain in the back!

Stonefish

Blending in with the bottom of the sea, the stonefish appears to be part of the coral reef but is, in actuality, one of the most venomous fish on the planet. The spines on its back inject toxic venom, causing, naturally, excruciating pain and, in some cases, death.

Tasmanian Devils

The Tasmanian Devil isn't just a popular Warner Bros. cartoon. They're actually the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world and live in only one place: the Australian island state of Tasmania. Legend has it that they've eaten humans who wandered into the forest, but like their cousins the Opossum, they usually become shy around humans, becoming still or shaking nervously.

Shark. Infested. Waters.

There are sharks everywhere in the waters surrounding Australia, especially in the northern waters and in the Great Barrier Reef. Three of the most dangerous sharks call Oz home: the Great White, the Tiger and the Bull Shark...

Great White Sharks

They're responsible for the most unprovoked attacks on humans, but many are misunderstandings as they don't consider humans one of their top choices of prey. They hunt seals, and it is believed that surfers paddling out to sea look like seals from the water. They can grow upwards of 21 feet, but the average female is around 13 feet long.

Tiger Sharks

The tiger shark is more apt to encounter humans as it often makes its territory in shallow reefs. They're somewhat aggressive and will attack humans. Though most attacks are not fatal, they still suck.

Bull Sharks

Bull sharks are just total douche bags when it comes to humans and are aggressive by nature. You'll find them lurking in shallower, warmer waters, so watch out.

The Sydney Funnel Web Spider

This venomous spider grows to maturity at about two inches long and can cause serious injury or even death if one of their bites is left untreated. They will often strike more than once when provoked.

Redback Spider

Looking quite like your run of the mill Black Widow, the Redback spider is a very venomous arachnid and an antivenom is necessary for one of its bites. A reported 2,000-10,000 people in Oz are bit by the Redback each year.

Big Nasty Earthworms

Okay, so an earthworm never hurt anybody, but one the size of a freaking kielbasa can be pretty intimidating.

Cassowary

The Cassowary is a flightless bird that reminds us a lot of the Velociraptors from the "Jurassic Park" movies. These birds grow up to over six feet tall and will straight up kick your ass. They can run over 30 miles-per-hour and feature a five inch dagger-like claw on each foot. The birds have been known to kill humans and dogs if provoked, otherwise they're a very calm-mannered, shy species. So if you see one it's probably best to keep your distance.

Australian Magpie

Australian Magpies are some of the biggest jerks in the avian world and are known to swoop down and attack people on the streets, especially in the springtime. They are very territorial, and signs are even posted to warn about the birds. The cyclist below has modified her helmet to avoid any such encounters with the birds.

Snakes Get Everywhere

"Snakes on a Plane" might be a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson, but it can actually happen in Oz. A woman shot the above photo out the window of a Qantas flight while taking off. It would truly suck if you were the person on the ground that this thing landed on when it fell off the plane.

There are four snakes on the list of the top 25 most venomous snakes in the world that AREN'T native to Australia. A good rule of thumb is: see a snake -- don't get bit.

Lizards

Another creature right out of "Jurassic Park" is this frilled-neck lizard. It uses its colorful frills to make itself appear larger and more intimidating to larger prey.

Massive Centipedes

Probably harmless as well, giant centipedes aren't exactly something you'd want crawling around the house.

Spiders Eating Snakes

You know not to trust the local arachnids when they're known for eating snakes.

Crocodiles

And you thought crocs were just found inland in rivers and swamps! Nope, there's a saltwater species that grows up to 22 feet long and is very territorial.

Giant Sting Rays

Late wildlife expert and conservationist Steve Irwin was killed by a giant stingray while filming in Batt Reef. He was shooting footage of one two meters wide as it swam away and it begin stabbing him with the barb on the end of its tail. Irwin's assistant, who was with him at the time, said the ray stabbed him with "hundreds of strikes in a few seconds". It is believed that the stingray's behavior was a defensive response

Not just animals can be deadly in Australia -- how about being in the middle of a hailstorm when chunks of ice bigger than billiard balls rain down from the sky?
